Getting to the Cataract Gorge from Launceston City Centre
The Cataract Gorge Reserve
By Car:
The Main car park is at the First Basin.
Follow the signs from York or Frederick Streets.
The Gorge Cliff Grounds can be reached via Trevallyn and Gorge Road.
(This is a very small car park with only 12 car spaces and is accessed via a steep, winding road.)
Walking:
It is a comfortable walk from northern side of Kings Bridge to the Cliff Grounds via the main walk - "Cataract Walk". This pathway follows the Gorge along its northern cliffs.
The energetic can take the Hikers Zig Zag Track which begins at the Southern side of Kings Bridge. This follows the top cliff and leads on the First Basin.
Duck Reach Power Station
By Car:
Turn off Basin Road into Denison Road and follow the signs via the one way scenic drive to the car park. A 10 minute track leads to the Power Station. There is a viewing platform here with Interpretational signage.
Walking:
From the Suspension Bridge at the First Basin it is a 45 minute each way hiking track.
